Meet Larah
Larah Eksteen is a Cape Town–based, award-winning violinist and music architect, known for crafting unforgettable live music experiences at prestigious events both locally and internationally.
She began playing the violin at the age of three and has since built a career defined by consistency, range, and high-level performance. Larah has performed at some of Cape Town’s most exclusive venues, including Tintswalo Atlantic, The Twelve Apostles Hotel, Babylonstoren, Mount Nelson Hotel, Quoin Rock, and The One & Only Hotel.
A music graduate of both the University of Pretoria and the University of Cape Town, she is also the founder and lead performer of Urban Strings, a music agency established in 2015 with over 427 bookings to date. Her work has taken her across the globe, with performances in London, Seychelles, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Eswatini, Zambia, Scotland, and Botswana.
Larah has performed for leading global and local brands such as Meta, Anglo American, Dermalogica, Standard Bank, and Shoprite, and is an ad hoc member of the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2025 alone, she completed over 40 bookings, ranging from high-end corporate events to intimate private celebrations.
Her musical portfolio includes four solo album releases, and she has also composed the theme song for a drama series that received a SAFTA nomination.
